Renmin Wang Beijing, May 18 (Li Yi) In order to further explore the Chinese tourism market, the Dubai Tourism Bureau conducted a five-day visit to China from May 13th to 17th. During the visit, Dubai Tourism Authority CEO Issam Kazim said that in 2018 Dubai Tourism Bureau will focus on the Chinese market, hoping to attract more Chinese tourists to Dubai as the preferred destination for outbound travel.


China is one of the fastest growing tourism source markets in Dubai. The number of Chinese tourists continues to grow strongly. This is due in part to Dubai’s visa-free policy on entry for Chinese citizens in 2017. This trend continued until 2018. According to data from Dubai Tourism Bureau, in the first quarter of this year alone, Chinese tourists to Dubai reached 258,000, an increase of 12% over the same period of last year.


Issam Kazim revealed that by 2020, Dubai aims to achieve an annual average of 20 million tourists. "Based on the above travel data, we are fully confident that the Chinese market will become a powerful driving force for Dubai to achieve its 2020 tourism vision."


It is reported that Dubai Tourism Bureau's "Welcome to China" strategy is being steadily implemented. According to Issam Kazim, chief executive of Dubai Tourism, after opening the visa-free policy, Dubai Tourism has also added new Chinese New Year celebrations, continued expansion of Chinese tour guides, further expansion of mobile payment coverage, and enhanced content marketing and integration promotion. A number of measures to attract more Chinese tourists to Dubai.


In addition, the Dubai Tourism Administration has established strategic partnerships with Huawei, Tencent and Feiying this year. It will use the information services, mobile services, and technology services of the three platforms to increase Dubai’s brand awareness in China and enhance the travel experience of Chinese tourists in Dubai. Not only that, Dubai Tourism also plans to establish long-term cooperation with traditional online travel platforms represented by Ctrip to promote Dubai tourism products.
